ok. i didn't think it was possible, but i was curious myself because i have a particular mix of a song with the some of the crappiest vocals ever. finding the instrumental version will be very hard. thanks.

I just thought of an analogy... help me guys if you think it's accurate or not.

Imagine a bucket of water. I pour in blue dye, green dye, red dye, etc and mix it all together. The question being asked is like asking me to take the bucket of mixed water, and simply remove the red dye from it. Ain't gonna happen.

Asking this question here is likely to get you shot. Mr Mystery is already getting his sniper position readied. When you see the glint of light or the red dot, run dood!

Everytime you don't read the FAQ at the top of the forum, Mr. Mystery has to kill another newbie. Please. Think of the newbies.

I don't know if I bumped my head or something, but I feel like being helpful instead of snarky... wtf

Anyways, it can be done to an extent, but not perfectly. It depends on what you are trying to do with it. You might be able to get it "good enough" for a remix with some additional processing, but only if you want your vocals to have a "processed sound". Add FX, EQ, filters, etc. Make it sound intentional. Even then, you are lucky if you end up with a usable product.

Here's an example of a "do-it-yourself" acapella vs. a studio one.
