California's traffic isn't as bad as its made out to be. it isn't great but it isn't that bad.

i would choose southern california for the following reasons:
-lots of hot women
-we get everyone under the sun in every genre of music
-lots of places to visit in the state
-job opportunities are abundant

People are are largely right. It's between Miami and LA.

Both cities have fake people, so your screwed in that regard either way.
Miami easily has better beaches, but LA easily has the better EDM scene.

Miami does have a number of quality clubs. The downside to Miami is that it's largely house and there's not much focus on trance. Yeah, the big trance DJs make their rounds from time to time, but outside of WMC it's not too often compared to other major cities.

But Miami has beautiful beaches with nice warm water.

LA (SoCal) has a scene that destroys Miami. It has a plethora of trance and house events on a weekly basis and there are numerous massives (GV, GM, Monster Massive, Together As One, Electric Daisy Carnival, Noctural Wonderland, etc -- some 21+, some all ages) throughout the year that also brings in top talent. The vibe in LA clubs generally suck, though, at least compared to SF (which is always cold, and rainy, and has freezing beaches so that's out of the picture). SoCal beaches are OK, but the water is definitely dirtier and much colder than the Florida beaches.

To me, the scene is more important so I'd choose LA, just because you get so much more variety. The weather in LA is generally better too because you aren't stuck with 90% humidity during the summer. Having grown up in Florida, I can tell you the heat there SUCKS.

And, and despite what someone else said, LA's traffic is THAT BAD. I dunno if London in rush hour bad (remember one time I was in London and the headlines were about the average speed during rush hour in London being 3mph - that's right, 3MPH! - and were considering charging tolls to drive within London and the toll boundries/costs would be zoned just as if you were riding on The Tube. Anyhow, LA traffic SUX.

L.A. baby! The weather is better than miami and so is the EDM scene.
As far as the beaches go I think miami sucks. No good breaks what so ever. If you plan on sufing don't even try over there.

If you don't like LA beaches theres always San Diego.

Thats another thing, there is nothing but miami in FL.

Here we have the beach, the moutains ( snowboarding in winter, and mountain biking in summer ), national parks and of course mexico.

Chose between,

Mexicans or Cubans
Earthquakes or Hurricanes
TRANCE/house or HOUSE/trance

than move to,

Los Angeles or Miami

I am sure you can find a job anywhere and the cost of living in most places is comparable to the salary earned.

All big cities have traffic issues

FTW - Sin City, ya know!!!

I'm originally from San Diego and after most of my life living there, I moved to Las Vegas. This place rocks like no other!!!

The cost of living here in Vegas is alot better than in California by a longshot. The casinos are always hiring and pay pretty good, too. They don't care if you're not a national citizen. As long as you're here legally (passport, visa, whatever) you're okay. The summers here get really hot, but that's what Air Conditioning and lounging poolside is for. Trance and DnB are the choons that really pump hard here and the club scene is HUGE!!! Every week a different headliner at a different club. The bus system is pretty effective here so you won't really even need a car once you're settled.

If you want to get your beach feel going, or you want to hit up a huge rave festival like Coachella or Monster Massive, Los Angeles is only a few hours away. Just rent a car and drive there and back well within the confinement of a weekend.

Millions of people each year spend thousands of dollars to come here. It's the vacation capital in the US. Living here is like being on vacation 24/7. No need to rush to sightsee, you do that going to the grocery store. Wanna catch some action at the tables? You can hit them up on your way off from work.

No other place I'd like to live than Vegas, baby!!!

Cali's the best, long as you can find a job that lets you see the light of day!

I just moved to the OC – I work in Costa Mesa and live in Huntington Beach - less than a month ago, from living in New York for close to 27 years.

In NY, the clubs and bars stay open later than 2am... (edited )

There’s always SOMETHING INTERESTING going on….

INTENSITY!!! – I LOVE IT and THAT’S what I MISS ABOUT NY.

NYC traffic can be bad, but it's nowhere close to LA's traffic. In LA, you can sit in the car for twenty minutes and may only move two blocks. In NYC, the traffic could be bad, but it MOVES. There have been times I’d drive in to the city (from the borough of Brooklyn or Queens – where I lived) and it’d take about half an hour to an hour, to drive into work.

We have trains and buses and taxi’s – so you don’t need a car if you don’t need/want one.

NY has its beaches too, of course it's not as clean as Miami or CA, but it's there...

FL – move there when you want to retire or something. (Hi Blake! ^_^).

I don’t know what the temperature is like in Ireland, but yes, it does get bone-chilly cold in NY. But hey – welcome to NY – we have the four full seasons in effect! Lol. You get to see the leaves change colors, you get to see the snow, and you get to see it melt and watch the flowers bloom in the spring.  Maybe you will appreciate it. I snowboard, so when the below zero temperature rolls in, I just wear my gear.

Also in regard to people … peeps in CA and NY are DIFFERENT. Not sure which which personality type floats your boat. What are people in Ireland like? Haha. =). If I tell you what I’ve been hearing or my 411, it will cost you. j/k. =)

In regard to taxes – not too sure yet. Does anyone know where I’ll be paying more of my income taxes? The OC or NYC?

And if you choose CA, move to the OC!!! It’s a 45-min-ish drive to LA and a 2-hour-ish drive to San Diego. I hear car insurance is much cheaper than LA. Also – I’ve been seeing some talent come to Newport Beach, which is a 15-20 min. drive from Huntington Beach/Costa Mesa (which is where I live). Last week, we had James Zabiela here, and now we're getting Above & Beyond this week.

If you snowboard, the west coast is much better than the east coast. West coast = more powder. East coast = more icey patches.

Hope this help. =)

btw - are you a male or are you a female? =)

safely assuming that you will be a CA female, you're in luck

"the ratio of male to female is far greater than in NYC where there are 186,000 more girls than guys."

Oh yah, did I mention that bars NEVER close here in Vegas!!! It's perfectly plausible in Vegas to get off work, hit up a lounge for a martini, go to a club for a mojito, hit up an afterhours for an "neon tornado", and finish off with at 8am with a bloody mary over a $3.00 steak and egg breakfast.

And being out of work here is never an issue. Always someplace hiring somewhere.
