I personally hate this movement as it really makes for good club music to dance to for newbie partygoers but it really is unimaginative IMO. Nothing but a squeeky stuttered bassline and a bunch of wakced out sounds mashed together. But hey, I enjoy more melodic stuff with some hints of tech and electro but will not be bracing the electro movement as long as i'm on this planet.

Hum, I have heard 2 mixes and a 3 live sets and their mixing is pretty good. No fuck ups, beatmatch problems or anything. What do you mean by lousy?
Well yeah, their beatmatching is okay. But a lot times they tend to mix in track a little too early, which leads to basslines and synths of two tracks overlap each other and that turns transitions into a disaster.

I guess I'll be quick to judge but i'm assuming this is mostly a cd influenced with electro.
Seen these guys live three times and really enjoy the show they put on but the last time was all electro. Well, in the same way I could say melodic stuff is just a bunch of rolling basslines with supersaw synths over top in predictable chord progressions.

Yes, tell me something I don't know? I just don't see how this trend is going to last, where can you go in terms of creativity with this sound?
A friend of mine talked to Justin last week here in Victoria while they're good friend Joel Armstrong played. What was relayed back to me from this conversation was that Justin and Colin are playing and producing more electro flavoured tracks because it's easier for people to dance too and that it's easier for the "newbies" (so to speak) to understand the music. They don't have to try and figure out what the producer is attempting to convey through and certain track.
I have no problems with trying to expand the scene and experiementing, I just don't think producers and dj's should turn their backs on the the people who have supported them over the years. Once this is figured out, you will have a win win situation.
