you could also run WinXP on a macbook via bootcamp if you want to keep things really concise
obviously, but this is clearly a case of one or the other. when i get mine ill be running both with a vga switch as i dont plan on giving up my pc laptop anytime soon as its perfect for doing anything normal.

An emulator from windows maybe, but I was talking about mac OS being run independently. There's absolutely no reason for it to differ from a mac with the same parts in it.

meh, maybe some computer geeks will do it this year + next but it's not a factor id take in consideration if buying a cpu in the next 6 months.
even so, what would be the advantages? especialy in a laptop where youll most likely face many incompatibility issues and other bullshit.

Just a matter of price. If you've got money coming out of your ears, then don't bother and buy an overpriced mac right away. If you live check by check like I do, then you have to learn to tweak these things and potentially save hundreds if not thousands of dollars to get the same performance, even if it's complicated and time consuming.

i live check by check and i know the time/hassle associated with trying to run mac os on a pc while may be cheaper is just asking for trouble and it just makes so much more sense to do it properly w/ applecare etc.
it's like buying dj gear. I didnt buy technics, i bought numarks. they arguably have better performance and a cheaper but aren't nearly as high quality (even though i do like them).
you're also paying for design. of you look at thos macbook pros, its fucking perfect. almost everything has been thought of... pc laptops (usually from the big commercial guys) are always such "one offs" apart from the classic ibm style etc. most are gimmicky and crappy. macs are sleek, to the point, and fast and that makes me want to pay the extra buck.

I agree the pros do have an excellent design, but is design worth paying a thousand bucks extra for?

i do however fucking hate their commercials.
Well at least we agree on something
