Knowing what synth you're using and how you made the lead would help. It sorta sounds like you are using a noise osc in it, but obviously you are not. Anyway what I would probably do is this:
First reduce freqs at 5khz by around 6db.
Next try reducing the high freqs with a filter or equaliser. Gently roll off the frequencies above 8khz. Or, reduce the filter envelope amount and only increase cutoff to the point where it starts sounding too noisy.
It may turn out that you'll have to mix the whole track over again to get it sounding right.

NI Massive is the lead synth, and I'm using a slew of Ableton Live effects to shape the sound. The noisy part is apparently part of the sound of the synth, so there isn't really anything I can do. I'll try setting the resolution on the synth higher, but its not gonna magically be un-noisy.

I tried out your EQing, but all it did was make the synth sound lofi/dull.
