Hah, it was kind of ironic on my test, I always get frustrated on the on-ramps because people in front of me won't speed the f*ck up, I have never merged slower than 100 unless the traffic itself was slower. And on my test, I ended up behind a truck on the on-ramp, and lo and behold the asshole coasted halfway across the ramp and decided to start merging at 60.
You're basically screwed in that situation. Either you also merge at 60 behind the jerk, or you have to speed up to 120+ to get ahead of him and merge before the end of the ramp. Lose-lose. I'm not sure which choice they deduct more points for, but either way I still passed.
It isn't hard to pass that test if you're a good driver, but let's face it, most people in this province aren't good drivers.
And yeah, they can't fail you for screwing up a parallel park - as long as you don't also screw up a bunch of other things.

The process of getting your license in Canada is soo much different from getting your license in the states.
You get your permit (test involved), either go to drivers-ed (through a school) or to a driving school where they will give you lessons, take your 5-hour test, then apply to take your road test. Once you pass your road test, that's it, you have your license, period.
Everything that they don't teach you, you learn on your own when your comfortable and ready. I personally didn't drive on the highway for a good three months after I got my license.
I'm not saying that Canadians are bad drivers, but for fuck sakes you guys do like to tailgate on the highway. There is no safety in proximity on the highway.
I was coming up to Toronto one weekend, and I hit traffic in Mississauga. At one point the guy in front of me came to a hard stop, so I stopped, the guy behind me stopped, the guy behind him, BANG, right into the back of him.

I heard that its better if you get an instructor car. |
It doesn't matter. What does matter is that you are a good driver.

Don't see how hard this is to understand lol.
Show up for your apt with any car you want.
Drive well.
Pass the test.
End of story.
By the sounds of it though, you won't pass if you think all this prep stuff is the hard part.
