Internet is definitely not trustworthy. Everything is logged. logs live on forever. Even if destination does not keep logs, source may. YOu have no idea how easy it is to trace one's steps. Heck, I can even pinpoint with a pretty reasonable accuracy your whereabouts. Even software like "Anonymizer" no longer mask you. You are tracked on the first hop (that's from your house to the nearest router from your ISP). Anything inbound/outbound can be intercepted and captured. So. Yes, Internets IS serious business. You better believe it that big brother IS ALWAYS watching you. The question is whether is what you're doing warrants further investigation. If NSA is wiretapping phones, think how easy it would be to wiretap internet communications, where everything is in digital format, which can be sorted and analyzed within short period of time. Unlike voice communications that you have to listen to to get the message. Even if you use encryption it can only take you so far. Sure you can encrypt your drive but you cannot encrypt the data on the way to your system. Using specific systems, as someone pointed out earlier, it is completely possible to capture your entire session - with all the content and use it for whatever purpose - be it in court or for malicious acts.
some stuff to make the hair in the back of your palm, errrrm., I mean your head stand up:

| quote: | | No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. |
