That's fine, but there's a certain image that has to be maintained. Yes, the scene is full of drugs, we know it, the promoters know it, the DJ's know it, everybody outside the scene knows it. Which is all the more reason for those who are seen as ambassadors for the scene to stress that drugs are not central to it, that the parties are not thrown as 'drug parties', that not everybody is off their face on E/Acid/Ice/G/what have you, that they do not officially condone these activites. If that image isn't maintained, then we can go back to the days when police would run around breaking up parties and arresting people and the media would run stories on 'drug based parties organized by dealers and peddlers corrupting our youth with their hedonism.' They're forced to overcompensate to maintain an image to the general public, and you get bags searched, flyers emphasising 'drug free events' and DJ's all stressing how they'd never, ever, ever do drugs. Thats just the way the world works.
