edit: after some googling, it's from the melody is from the theme of "Withnail and I" from 1987
Yep, to be exact, it features the melody from a score piece called David Dundas & Rick Wentworth - Marwood Walks" from the movie.

Actually Ennio Morricone's Chi Mai was first used in the movie Maddalena (1971) and 10 years later again in Le Professionel which is much better known of the two tho.
Watergate (= DJ Quicksilver & David Haid) have also remade Chi Mai but only worthy mix of that is Ayla Remix.

Solar Stone sped up the melody quite a bit.. the original piece is veeerryy slow. But it sure is the same melody. So basically they did what PPK did in ResuRection with the main theme from the movie Siberiada.

This isn't taken from any film version of TWOTW. It's from Jeff Wayne's concept album of the book from 1976.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Watergate - Heart of Asia, which uses music from Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence. A good rule of thumb seems to be that if Oakey used film music in a set (as he was wont to do) it'll get a remix.
Oakenfold - Zoo York / Aeternal
GMS - Juice
Lil Jon - Throw It Up
all of them sample the main theme from requiem from a dream

Yes the actual original version is not directly from any movie, but from a '76 musical he originally composed it for. There WAS an actual musical. The '78 concept album was made from the soundtrack of the musical, just slightly rearranging bits and pieces. Richard Burton was the narrator in that actual musical play and his opening speech has been sampled in numerous tracks ever since.
The remixes are made from that '78 concept album version of The Eve Of The War. The theme has been used in many forms in various movie and stage play adaptations so i chose it to be there. Sorry to spoil your nitpicking world.
