Ok this is my review of pharmacy - our law
first up the djs
Tonka vs T2 - didn't see them play
Dr Willis vs Scott Alert - didn't see them play either
Ninth Insight(Master Kaos vs LCK) - heard last half hour, playing some sweet uplifting hard trance song the moment I walked in, so I ran to the dance floor and started going nuts, they also played Derb - Staisfaktion, Yakooza - Cocaine (Scot Project remix) and they finished with that Penguin rock track, which is nuts. From what I heard they were pretty good, but they tend to spend too much time and ruin too many tracks with excessive scratching and effects, and it takes away from the flow and energy of the tracks.
Nik Fish - I decided to rest for his set, so I stood and the balcony and watched, he opened with, Walt - let the Music Play, which had the desired effect, with the dance floor going nuts. The rest of his set was mostly hits with some misses, the majority of the tracks being hardstyle. He played a pink panther hardstyle track, which I thought sounded ok, but most people around me thought was cheesey and he finished with a hip hop track which was different.
Kutski - this was the man I had come to see, and he was phenomenal, I have not danced this hard in so long. Kutski played mostly hard trance and hardstyle, event though he can play hard house, hip-hop, tech-trance, happy hard core and gabba. Kutski did some sweet scratching, which was used sparingly and to good effect. However Kutski's biggest strength is his ability to mix parts of tracks together, a bassline from one, a build up of another and the melody of something else, means he creates these little ten minute buildup/journeys that are insane, add his innovativness, the switching back and forth btween the original tainted love melody and the hardstyle version, brilliant. From what I can remmber he played, Anne Savage, VinyleGroover and the Red Hed - The Pod, Derb - Satisfaktion, Meteor 7 - Universal Sound (Scot Project Remix) and Walt & Feliz - Smoke Machine.
The Organ Donors - I had planned to hear the start of these guys and then head to the other rooms, as I have heard a few of their live sets and had not been impressed. Man, did I underestimate them! They were insane, they had their twisted little intro and from then on it was just mayhem, I was too exhuasted from kutski, so I jsut stood there waving my arms. Scott (i think) is obviously more technically skilled, with some wicked scratching skills, fuck me, he is good. Then Scot interacting with the crowd and turning them into a frenzy, but he still has skills with that effects box? he is nuts. From memory they played, Marcel Woods - Advanced (OD edit?), 4 Strings - Into the Night (that new tech remix one), Sean Tyas - Lift(i think, probably wrong on that one), Tiesto - Lethal Industry (derb remix?), Organ Donors - 99.9 (2007 remix), Vinylgroover and the Red Hed - Live for the Weekend (OD remix) and Technotronic - Pump up the Jam (Organ Donors vs Alex Kidd)
DJ Misjah/Dyewitness - I was worried for this DJ as I had heard he was playing electro and house these days, and if he played that, the floor would be empty with in 5 mins, but not to worry, he rocked! I could only watch from the balcony where I had chossen to rest. But he carved it up, with some old school hardcore and hard trance which the crowd was loving. I managed to get back down to hear Masterplan which with help from to Nik Fish's drunken encourgaement the crowd went insane, hands in the air style.
Hellraiser - pharmacy's main man was late, Master Kaos and LCK started for him, but sorry boys there is only one guy who can finish a pharmacy party off and that is Hellraiser. And he was as brutal as ever, with my mate (my old supervisor from work who's married, what a champ he loved it!) commenting that 'this stuff is evil', yes it was. As satisfying as it was, my legs could no longer move and it was time to head home.
Overall another fantastic pharmacy party as always, a couple of comments.
- the crowd good as always, full of characters the majority very friendly.
- lights and lasers pretty good, i want more strobe (but thats cause im obsessed with them), the laser image of the naked chick behind the djs added very little.
- what was with the three advertised rooms being squeezed into one, the place was packed as always.
- i am sure the flyer said primal people performance, where was it? its always wicked and a good talking point or a good way to freak out people who haven't been tp pharmacy before.
Any other comments, opinios, tracks? Do it
