Because a new President in office will fix America? Even if it was the greatest President in the last century, the damage that has been done to the world and to ourselves is irreparable. And though the current administration has done more than its share of the damage, it's not all on them - this country has been on the decline for quite some time and no amount of shift swapping will change that. People might do well to consider that perhaps it isn't just Bush which prevents the United States from being a force for good in this world, but perhaps it's...the people themselves?

We're doomed. Global warming will kill us all and devastate the world economy. But I have faith in people, people will adapt naturally and move into more interior lands as sea levels rise, so it's no big deal. Many will die, but those who live will go on and carry the human race for generations to come.

Who's to say we cant live in 100 degree climates instead of 90 degree ones. If you cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen... This goes for all you moronic Americans who are moving South... Then again, when we run out of oil... What are we northerners going to use to heat our homes, so we minus well take all the global warming we can get.

We're a long way from being out of the woods, and things are only going to get worse for the U.S. (at least with regard to the world opinion on us), before they get any better.

The stories that are only beginning to trickle out of Guantanamo alone (not to mention the even more rapidly deteriorating situation in Iraq) are going to fuel anti-American sentiment abroad for years to come, far beyond the Bush presidency.

doubtful. Senators & congressmen are far worse than a lot of Presidents, IMO--mainly because they can get away with almost anything, with zero accountability.

Just keep in mind, major changes take a while to have any sort of significant impact. There are plenty of things that happened 5, 10, 20, 70 years ago that're just now rearing their heads now. At the very least, any economic changes take at least one year to begin to take hold. It's misguided to attribute everything happening today to Bush, just as it was misguided to attribute everything happening 10 years ago to Clinton, and as it will be to attribute everything happening in 5 years to whomever comes next. There's a lot that changes right away, but the major damage or progress doesn't come for a while.
