Lets keep it real here the time before the Navy admitted it might be possible that they could have been mistaken. But this time the navy is sure it was right.

UK forces on a UN mission to UN laws were snatched. The legimitacy of the Iraq war doesn't come into it.

Oh no, not at all. PNAC simply doesn't exist lol.

Your cynicism is exceeded only by your ignorance (tried to find a nicer word but come on...).

1) They are British Forces.

2) It's to a UN mandate.

This has nothing to do with the origional Iraq war.... thats been and gone.

Unless you are suggesting the US deliberatly messed with the GPS to put them off course to get them caught?!?

Have you seen what this has done to the oil price?

No, I don't think so. I just choose to think criticially.

Yes, US allies in the Iraq invasion and the "War on Terror" who're beding to the will of US policy makers (and share a similar vision to an extent too), so I'd hardly think that qualifies as much of a distinction.

So? How many UN mandates or international laws/treaties are respected by the main Western states in question here? Parhaps you're also forgetting how often resolutions are vetoed by guess who.

No, more like this and the invasion of Iraq are peices of a bigger picture, that's really not hard to conclude based on merberships and publicly available documents of the current US administraion and it's supporters, who aren't limited to the US btw.

Why not? It certainly compliments policies derivative of a doctrine only enforcable through coercion and warfare.

A rise in oil prices doesn't necessarily hurt long term profits or market share of multinational corporations.

Weak arguement.

The invasion of Iraq has nothing to deal with this.

Ludicrous assertion, ignorance of evidence in plain sight.

But is this another example of this? I don't think so.

Was the action taken by the Iranians legal? Remains to be seen in sense that it is possible the UK boats were in the wrong place. But given the position (by that I mean area) and modern technology I think it's unlikely.... but not impossible.

It's difficult to judge at this point, but what I can confidently say is that it wasn't the intention of the UK fores to be in Iranian waters.

This water was long-disputed territory, and depending on who's map you're going by, they may / may not have been in Iranian waters. The Iranians will no doubt go by their maps.

This was the same disputed waterway that was part of the reason Saddam invaded Iran in the 80's.

I don't know about this one. I think it's a case of a mistake in navigation combined with the Iranians looking at a different version of the same map, and they're just defending their sovereign waters. Sure, they could've just politely informed the Royal Marines of this error, and talked about it over tea, and everyone go their seperate ways....but given the tensions created by both sides in this whole regional shitshow, it's understandable the Marines would be detained for a while to make sure the incident made the press.

It's cool, nothing taken personaly on my end. Although I'm curious about your last statement. What makes you so confident about UK's intentions?

i wonder if Iran will parade the hostages around blindfolded on video tape again like they did the Brits in 2004?

if this is about anything other than sovereign water space then the Mullahs are about as petty as they claim Israel to be.

i think it was a mistake that Iran capitalized on and turned into a lame ass propoganda stunt to try to get the people all 'nationalized'. they are preparing for war and pulling stunts that are pretty standard in history. Lusitania anyone?
