never encountered shit like this in my Calc 3 class. Calc 3 was multivariable differentiation/integration, greens/stokes/divergence theorem, vector math, shit like that. Diff EQ's is very different, I thought it was easier, as it's all about learning a bunch of methods for solution and somewhat less about theory. Linear algebra is, in fact, teh suck (fucking Eigenvectors) but unfortunately it's quite handy for a lot of engineering.

and I hear ya, I'm an engineer so basically everything I do is calculus or linear algebra applied to a physical situation.

You're very lucky sir. In my cal3 class we spent the whole first half of the semester doing what my teacher liked to call 'the chapter from hell' 'you'll never use this stuff again' AKA a month and a half of infinite sequences/series.

infinite series bullshit was in my highschool AP calc class. it sucks and you barely ever use it. However, Taylor/McLauren Expansions are important so if/when you do those remember it well.

Yeah I rock at those, but the point seems moot anyway as I'm an analytical chemist. Even if I were doing physical chemistry all I need to know are multiple integrals.

You guys are definitly right about linear algebra. I have a friend in that class that took calculus 2 last semester, made an A, and is now making a borderline D in L.algebra. I saw those formulas and I pretty much just had to start laughing right there and then, not because I was making fun, but because I'd never seen notebook paper look like an artwork of what seemed to me as japanese writing like that shit did. Fucking unreal.

He's a computer technology major, btw....software junkies

I have no clue how much this will help you, but right now I'm reading a book for the layman called "Mathmatics of Choice or How to Count without Counting" by Ivan Niven.

The book is about Combinatorics, Premutations, Inclusive/Exclusive Principals. . .and more.

P.S. Combinatorics FTW!
