yes, corporations possess a peculiar amount of power in a liberal democracy. but less so with donations and support of parties, and more from their place within society- ie they provide most of the goods & services, but more importantly- almost all the employment. this is where business' real bargaining power lies.
however, i cant see how the blanket statement of "the corporations" can be connected with US policy designed to foster a supposedly "safer" society. indeed, many of the regulations would have had a negative impact on business, such as the new airport security procedures.
