I've come to appreciate the Tranco Edit, there's something very entrancing about the chord progression and the synths. The other versions annoy the hell out of me though. I don't know what Mike had in mind when he created the track, but I have to agree that there's no real depth to be found in this release compared to his older tracks. He seems to have taken a step backwards in terms of maturity. The new Absolute tracks (samples on Mike.be) sound quite empty as well. There's loads of potential each time, but for some reason he doesn't seem to develop it sufficiently.
Galore - The Other Way Around, now that's a track I do like.

Loving that track so much. Certainly has a trancey atmosphere to it, if you can call it that.
But I agree with everyone that Changes R Good is the wrong direction for M.I.K.E., I just can't feel anything from it.

Thát's the M.I.K.E. I'd like to hear more of.
Yes, I agree with you there. M.I.K.E. is still making great tracks under other aliases- Galore, Absolute, Kriss Rider (deep tech-house/electro), Active Sight, Deep Flexion, but the M.I.K.E. alias itself just isn't the same. His new tracks just don't do anything for me. Changes R Good isn't a bad song, but I've heard M.I.K.E. bang this out to death since early November/December, and it's starting to get a little annoying/dated for me. More on the commercial range from his usual stuff, too (not that that's a bad thing). I miss M.I.K.E.'s proggier/trancier stuff.
Damn, the more I listen to Dream Odyssey the more I like it. Sounds gorgeous from 1:30 onwards (Myspace-page), very uplifting. I love those strings.
I still think it's a step backwards for Mike, as it sounds like a track from 1998, but the track makes me feel good inside and should send the crowd's hands in the air. Good stuff.

That's why he's been one of my favorite producers/DJs for so many years now. He has a good ear for music and he's one of the few remaining trance producers that has stayed true to his roots and has consistently put out quality for the last 12-13 years. The thing I like about MIKE the most is that he makes/plays everything from techno, trance, progressive, house, and electro and does a good job weaving them all together in his DJ sets and making them. Never count MIKE out because he always comes back with great material. This may not be my favorite MIKE-alias production but I know he'll come back with productions I'll love in the future.
