Well not really. In America, it depends on the teacher and the assignment. I've had some teachers who wanted things really short and to the point, others who've not said anything to me about writing or doing more than expected. And I will go "to the point" however I think it's kind of frusturating, especially on here, when people disect things I say or mis-interpet what I say (not even attempt to at least understand my point of view) rather judge it, judge me, or like I said..disect something. Which kind of throws the whole thing off.

It's like I try to often find a middle ground in debates (like the on-going definition of "trance" debate) but I don't know if people on here even attempt to understand what I am saying and doing. I'm just the type of person that genuinely (not always) tries to take a middle ground approach (give me any issue and I can work to find a solution that could please both sides), and I agree that sometimes I can be a little dogmatic, or preachy about it. But i've stopped that largely..as best as I can. I will admit that I have trouble in real life getting to my points as well so maybe it's just the way I am, but it's also a defense mechanism.

See I don't like psy, no matter how hard i've tried to get into it, but I see why some people like it. And I understand the older trance as having a more hypnotic quality to it, but I find a middle ground and say that the newer trance is equally "trance" but maybe not as hypnotic sounding. That the term trance does mean more than just hypnotic states (it also means ecstatic states), and that there is plenty of music that isn't labeled "trance" that is hypnotic. So that's one way in which i've tried to reach a middle ground, I guess I don't feel I get respect for doing that (and I don't disrespect others). I am not debating this thing again, I am just using it as an example.

The teachers who said nothing probably didn't do their job. That's for sure.

Not true. Some feel that it's better to have something lengthier and more comprehensive than something so short that you don't go into detail..like on an essay. It depends on the teacher like I said, and the class. An english teacher may want you to make an essay longer, but say a science teacher may not. No english teacher (except maybe one) has told me to write shorter. But i've had science teachers tell me that (and my current one did for a paper I did). In science (or math) you either get it, or you don't, and the teacher can tell. English (or whatever is equivalent of a writing/literature class in Sweden) usually requires something more comprehensive than one or two sentences. Most English tests I had in High School were essay tests (minimum of a page) and or papers (minimum usuall was 3 pagers double spaced), not short answer or multiple choice (except maybe on a quiz).

you probably misunderstood my earlier post. I never said that the teacher wanted short essays. BUT every teacher I've came across, and others here can probably back this up themselves, prefers shorter texts with more substance rather than having long texts with little substance or which isn't giving much.
Every time I've written essays, and I've written tons of them during the last 5 years at the uni, the lecturer have often given comments such as "you could probably shorten this down and make it more comprehensive". Of course essays become longer at a higher level. But that still doesn't count in here since the higher you reach the more narrow is the subject and the more pressure is it on the writer to write with good analasys.

And that's true, esp with written essay-tests when you have a short period of time. You either get it, like I said, or you don't. In literature and papers, it's not quite the same. And I guess I am so used to writing papers vs. in class essay tests, and I've had more tests that were multiple choice vs. short answer or essay, that I am just used to writing more. And perhaps cause I don't talk to many people in real life (most of my social life outside of school and work has been on the net, esp in college) so I kind of use it as a means of communication. And this place has been literally the only place I could find people into the same type of music i'm into. Know coming in here, there will be someone i'll have something in common with. But that's it I have to say. This has become totally off topic.

well djs to me are like rockstars, i really don't mind them showing their face sinse thats not why i would be buying an album, but at the same time one of the reasons i love daft is because they know that their faces are not important but their music is.
