As I recall, Prydz hated Call on Me, and hated being associated with it.
he hated the video, since it's just 3minutes worth of insulting softcore porn disguised as a musicvideo. i don't think he ever said that he hated the track, altho i think he is sick of being branded with the track since he has moved on a bit from that sound

if he hated it so much, why did he even release it? nobody forced him to, it's his own decision at the end of the day. makes no sense to me, unless of course he was just in it for the money.

You are absolutely right, I believe 3/4 of my friends heard Valarie but cannot connect Eric Prdyz and Steve Windwood together. Its like they don't even know 80's pop music. When music was MUSIC!!

i have wondered about that. Prydz is too good to be producing shit like that! I would like to think he was manipulating the genre (as any innovator does) but who knows for real. That could all be post-rationalization.
He used the same formula on Pryda - Shadows (cover of Alan Parsons Project - Old & Wise)
at least with proper education he made no attempt to mask the creator
I find it rather amusing that he has tapped into such a market this way. There are so many ignorant people out there who have no clue who Steve Winwood is.
there is a nagging hint of cynicism in prydz' work imo

If you shat on a plate, and someone offered you $100 straight up for it... screaming and jumping like it was the greatest thing on earth... would you not take the money?

I've heard worse for Pop Dance Music. Take it for what it is. I guess we can start hating Thomas Bangalter and 'Together' for doing there rendition of the track long before it was ever released as a single by Prydz (still never heard what came of that story btw).
I personally liked the track when I first heard it. It got played out, and that should be the end of it. Definately not Prydz' best work, but it was definately catchy.

Sure ....why not. I know some people would even pop a laxative and try and make even more money.
I actually really liked the track, and at the time was playing Call on me followed by Woz not Woz at every single gig i had. I think the track's produced brilliantly, and calling something cheese just because it gets popular, isn't quite fair. (Unless your name's DJ Sammy)
Unlikely that Prydz would have hated the track when he produced it... but like someone said, would probably have hated what it went on to represent in the video and with MOS wanting "me too" versions of it.

Is this line going to be the next "you can't talk unless you make something better"-argument?
It doesn't get called cheese because it's popular, it got popular because it is cheese. And not even the good kind.
