You're just wrong. On more than one level.

Back to the matter at hand.
I always find finite statements are retarded in themselves and can envoke the passions in people like you wouldn't believe.

The orginal picture shows Jules using a CDJ in favour of Techs.
As many users have stated, this is a very common sight these days. As a matter a fact, I can't remember the last time I saw a major DJ using vinyl.

With regards to laptops I still see only a handful and whilst I am told I am witnessing a creative genious I am still yet to be impressed and find that most sets are too selfindulgent or complete wank.

Cheers
Nem

Last saturday I was working with Eddie H of the alliwell, and he did amazingly use vinyl.....
Only to scratch with a couple of times mind, the rest was all on the cdj mk3s, but still.... that surprised even me.
Still see it used from time to time- certain people still swear by it, and in other genres it is strill the medium of choice.
But it does sadden me to see technics used as oversized novelty beermats

If I had heaps of cash, no doubt would I be buying the wax.
But funds are tight.
And buying vinyl normally means you got to sell yourself for sex.
Well... yea... $5? anyone?...

Aye, that it does.

I don't love my CDJs the same way I love my 1210s.

He put on once of the worst performances i'd ever seen.

I just think vinyl and cd's are just chalk and cheese.

Theres nothing like dusting off a record i've not played in a while and putting it on the turntable for a spin. Theres something beautiful in the simplicity of that and the tactile feel of it. I'm lucky in the sense that i'll only really buy a record or two a month, and they'll usually be over 15-20 years old.

There's also nothing like the satisfaction of slamming in a cd full of tracks you only heard for the first time 15 minutes earlier and being able to mix with them off the bat.

There are positives and negatives of both aspects, and always will be. I embrace any form of djing that doesn't take away from the main point of it which everyone seems to forget. DJING IS MEANT TO BE A SELFLESS JOB. Your job is to make other people have a good time and you're a very lucky person if you're doing something which plays a positive part on others lives while doing something you love to do.

Not many people can say they'll ever have that type of job satisfaction.

When it boils down to it, you could be mixing with cassetes, or minidiscs and 90% of the crowd wouldn't be any the wiser and it doesn't make a shred of difference. It's just about getting people remembering that night for the amount of quality music they hear and how much dancing/drinking/pilling/shagging they got done.

FTW!!!!! could not agree with you more.... that POINT is why i want to be a DJ, no doubt like all the rest of you guys and girls, your all extreemly passionate about your music... so am i, and if i can make people feel the emotions that i do from music with or without lyrics, make them smile, feel sad (even cry), happy, energized, have goosebumps all over, send shivers down their spine just like i do... then i will be doing what i was born to do!

I bought techs and I EFFING LOVE THEM. I agree though, if you're going to be working with EDM its just better to go digital (no one who is going to listen is going to care that vinyl sounds "warmer"). I'm pretty much going to skip the CDJs and move to ableton and save my TTs for scratching/cutting/juggling.
