got a question as well, i wanna spend around $800-$1000. battery life doesn't have to be great, it will be plugged in most of the time. just want something quick and something that can hold a lot of music files, random programs etc.

Acer are the cheapest, but they're also dogshit. An Asus will prob give you best value for money without going too close to the shoddy build line - tho I've never seen Asus software or drivers, but they can't be worse than Acer's.

god does acer make shitty machines! asus is ok. its really hard finding a good quality laptop for 1k. you get below 1200 or so and you really drop significantly in build quality.
