We do spend a really ludicrous amount of money on defense contracts and research, but that's also what this country is built off of. Many innovations developed by defense contractors have turned into things for the civilian populace. Our one real hope for the future of this country economically is to stay that way since not a whole lot of other countries spend as much money as we do on R&D work. Scientific research is practically our biggest export to the rest of the world depending on how you look at it.

I'd have to give a +1 to the Master Chief suit. Nothing wrong with the storm trooper, but Master Chief is the shit.
