Some1 help me with the vocals because reading this thread a song started playing in my head, "I went to 5th Ave and the is no Dance Culture"!!!

Sux when outside NY investers start pushing in their theories on what NY Club culture should be like.

well... yes, and no... i mean, ARE there any good big rooms in New York void of constant bad reviews? of course i hate to see that stuff go, but Spirit, Avalon, Exit, they all closed for one reason: people just stopped going... and that'll be the case of Pacha eventually and Studio too... I guess it's inevitable, but you know what? There's always something new coming up from the roots... In the face of glam, color, and fabulousness of the 80s clubs, the underground rave scene rose up. In the face of the big room clubs coming up less than a decade ago, the electro sound was RE-born in lofts and small roms in Brooklyn. Something's gotta give, I guess, and I think that something will, in the next few years. I mean, the more I go out, regardless of whether or not I have fun, it seems that clubs are not where people want to be. Why get herded into a big impersonal room, only to be treated like shit, overcharged, and dissapointed by the DJ, when there's a loungier spot down in Meatpacking that some fake promoter can get you in free with a few bottles to your name. Put anyone in any space with alcohol and they'll have fun. The big room is not where people want to be at the moment. And that's why I was so upset after Friday; the stuff that happened at the party embodied just about everything I hate about parties, and that was my own event. Enough of the ranting haha we'll see what direction New York goes. It's never going to "die", per-se. Through this, there will only grow a new movement and hopefully something different and refreshing.

Eco, I agree and all but I like the large scale events becuase its unity of people sharing same joy & style of life as me, and even though you have a point I'd like to take this in a different direction since if you look at other countries large scale event surviving and then @ ours in NYC (USA) where its clearly showing that we have (had) too many obstacles to be able to hang on to our club culture because of reasons beyond us and because of us. (one of the reason i wouldn't drop a copper coin into the ClubFive event to helping some politician, who doesn't give a rats arse about what i want, campaign)

I agree as well. Me, I love the big-room, I won't speak and put my fut in my mouth a year later, but it doesn't get any better than a huge room of 2-3000 people. However, my last post was just to say that 1% of New Yorkers are like us. Severaly years ago, you could take your friends to an PVD party and 8 out of 10 of them would say they had an amazing time. Now it's like 1 in 10 chance. Anyone I bring to a party has that sorta "yeah it was fun, but I won't do it again" reaction. The girl/guy ratio sucks, people spilling drinks, everything negative you can imagine; even kids my age can now get into all those bottle spots, so to pay 25$ to be packed into a room and have to PAY for drinks (OMG!) is like an uber-no-no for half the people in my school. It's pretty sad, but I think in the ashes of the superclub, AND the bottle spots (those will die very soon), something new and something interesting will come up, I don't know what, but I have faith it's overdue for NYC to make some waves in the global scene.

We're by far long behind in club design. Its kind of getting better but still needs an original flavor added to the recipe to have its own modern edge. Hopefully it will pop-up in NYC in the next near future like you saying but it will have to be on a grander scale. Its NYC for f*ck sake and our clubs are dindgie rat holes. Seriously, its about time somebody started to notice whats lacking here. (Although there are events like Monday nights at Guggenheim.)
There are 5 level mega-clubs in shady parts of Europe where with one fee you get full access and pretty much an open to explore club and all the features it has to offer you like pool, bowling, lounge areas, pool and much more. Its basically coming and enjoying your stay at a resort and then taking a room upstairs in a hotel all in one building. Kind of a weekend Spa. Its about NY developers catching up to the idea.

miami's mansion is a gorgeous club; i reserve judgement on an nyc version until i step foot inside and get a peek at their lineups.

i guess they need to promote it the right way i suppose then maybe it will work but who knows

Most of the BIG trance djs are residents of Godskitchen UK but Godskitchen USA barely brought us anyone...i think they were using PVD at IKON as the test and they were gonna START bringing over the big djs...but then sh*t went down and then it was never realized

do they come out with predominantly trance acts or is it more house cuz i know Miami is a house city.

Also I am curious about how Crobar Miami/Chicago is compared to Crobar NYC. Or how Pacha IBIZA is compared to PACHA NYC. I don't think it always is a reliable predictor of how a club might turn out here. It doesn't mean you get the SAME djs/producers, as much as we might want that to happen. Well you can *hope* but we will have to wait and see I suppose...
