Ah, but there's a crucial difference RJ. In the private sector, highly-paid executives are still accountable to a board of directors or to their shareholders, who can fire them at any time. In provincial parliament we're stuck with them for four years, and they get to use more of our money for marketing.
Having said that, I still think they're better off with high salaries, because a low salary for an elected official is just an invitation to be corrupt. If someone's already making $200K per year, there's maybe a slightly better chance that they won't consider pork to be worth their time. Of course, that logic still doesn't hold water for the libs...
