I bought the cheaper ones with the longer stub. I was kinda pissed I can't use em with headphones on bc they stick out too far. Haven't worn em in a club bc I know I'd get a lot of weird looks. But for 13 bucks, it was worth a shot. The really good ones are like 200 bucks!

Mine were $250, but it was worth it.

Stubs are not long, and the plugs themselves are clear plastic.

People can only see them when they are standing close to your looking directly into your ear.

ER-20s for me. I'd get custom molded ones but I retired from DJing and supporting the local club scene.

I've got the ones with the longer stubs (but they are clear) and go clubbing with them in all the time and not one person has noticed.

How often do you look at a strangers ear when in a dark club room?

ER-20's here also.

I'll be getting custom-fit ones from an audiologist in the near future though

Personally, I find the ER-20's are still perfect for DJing, even with the long stubby bit.

Why? Coz I only wear one of them. (When in the mix). I pop the plug into my right ear when I'm single ear monitoring for beat matching, and then when I'll all done, and my headphones are off my left ear, I pop the other one in to protect that ear.

The bonus of doing this is that by plugging the other ear, you don't have to play your headphones at such a loud volume to create the stereo image in your head. This does kinda neccesitate using closed back headphones, so the live sound doesn't spill in through them - but if you've got a good pair (Like my RPDJ1210's) you only need to wear a plug in one ear - the ear that doesn't have a headphone over it, and therefore doesn't matter if there's a meter and a half of plastic poking out of it.

So plug one ear, save both ears. If you plugged the left ear too - you'd need to crank up the phones, which'll cause distortion to the music, and make it harder to hear the beats - why'd you want to do that? Only plug the ears that aer open to the live sound.

i used to use er-20, but now i use alpine music safe plugs half the size than the er-20 and alot more comfortable. i couldnt use the er-20 while DJing because the stalks stuck out my ears alot and hearing headphones made them hurt. with the alpines you also get a range of filters to use with them, id definatley recommend them
