I just learnt that the hard way. If it's a full track or a pretty busy clip, you MUST use complex. Sounds way better.

In my opinion when using complex tracks sound flatter and dull but when using the "beats" option things easily sound glitchy and weird.

beats mode is unreliable. even if you are 100% warped correctly you can still get artifacting or even a warbly effect that sounds "improperly warped". Complex mode simply works the best at the expense of CPU resources.

I do still think Re-Pitch sounds by far the best...if you're not stretching it too much indeed

Agree. If I was on Ableton, I'd want to introduce the least amount of signal processing required.

It seems that if you warp complex, you're asking Ableton to introduce algorithms to force the original pitch of the song, which I'm guessing could cause artifacts. Granted if I wasn't straying too much outside the original tempos of the tracks, I'd use complex mode...

actually the point of complex mode is that you are avoiding artifacting. i have an intel macbook and so this isn't even a consideration for me (even though friends with much weaker machines have no problems using complex mode as well).

the problem with repitch mode is it's one more thing to think about when have an automated global tempo (for example) or when modifying the tempo as you have to be very harmonically conscious. Since my entire orgnization is based around key this would throw me off having to constantly think about what key i'm now in because of my tempo.

doesn't it work the same way as master tempo on CDJs? (as far as granulizing/cutting up the sound) I don't find it to be a problem. Unless you are mixing philharmonic orchestra music the difference isn't going to matter.

You just need to take your collection, set it to repitch mode and then set master tempo to some average tempo. Then rekey them when they are all the same tempo.

I don't like doing this though, because key is based on whole number intervals

I've listened to each warp mode very closely and to me complex sounds best. Thats pretty much all I did to decide in favor of it.
