You missed the point, but ok. |
Well, so did you, sort of. The hand-to-hand combat and self defense you talk about is not the crap you see in the movies. Audiences don't wanna see some pudgy cop wrestling a perp to the ground and macing his face - they wanna see a half-naked Jean Claude Van Damme (he gotta be half naked) give someone a taste of his SWAT boot in mid-flight.
and I think that's what IGK was getting at. Besides, ever see a "real" fight between a cop and perp? I've seen a few. Usually doesn't last very long and I've yet to see a cop raise his foot from the ground. And usually it's when perp is on the ground - to keep his ass down.
I watched "alias" yesterday (and I mean tried to watch) - it was pathetic. First it was cheesy-over-done-seductress-seduces-some-geek-scientist-with-some-secret-stuff-or-technology-seductress-spy-hot-girl-wants-to-steal. Then, it was a crappy fight scene. On a train. In a luggage cart. With a spy-girl-in-question hanging out of the door over the bridge (very "Under Seige 2"-like). I turned it off after that. The fight scene ruined it for me.
anywho. rant over.

And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. |
