Doesn't matter the motive, he killed a cop. I'm suprised that after shooting an officer, he wasn't 'killed resisting arrest' by the other ETF officers.

everyone, both defence and persecutors, that it was exceptional.
Another reason that helped is that the persecutors didn't see fit for the guy to stay in jail while waiting for his trial to end... I think there could be a good chance for him to win.
Under Larochelle's questioning, Laurendeau acknowledged the only items they are certain Tessier was wearing that could identify him from the front as a police officer was a Laval police baseball cap, on which the word "Police" is barely visible from a distance, and a badge on his belt.
Larochelle also revealed while Forbes was being treated for his wounded arm, he gave a statement to investigators that calls into question how much effort the officers made in shouting "Police!" after they smashed in the door.
Forbes said he was certain they shouted it as soon as they entered the house, but wasn't certain they did the same as they ran up the stairs to the second floor. Forbes did not sign his statement because he was on medication and felt tired at the time.

In a way I understand what you mean, but at the same time there is a just law process. On the other hand, I don't really like what kind of message this sends out.
Some can say it is a just due process. Yet there are numerous posts in this thread stating that it is a very good lawyer. Well, how come not all lawyers are that 'good'. Obviously there is more than a just and due law proce$$...
