for 6k there are LOTS of cars out there. is 6k what you have right now? if so why dont you finance a 10k car? that would mean a SUPER low payment plus your car would be quite new. like 2003ish. your young and you NEED to start building that credit history NOW!
No I can afford financing 6k. Im just a poor grad student. And also for people suggesting a manual, I live in downtown Atlanta and Im just not okay with driving one through this city.
Anyways, sorry Im dragging this thread up. The Foci with the problems are the manual's. I dont know what it is about them but people have had serious problems with them. Ive done enough research, though. This particular model has no known problems and no recalls.
Thats another thing. There were a TON of Focus recalls for the 2000 model year. Most of them were manuals.

Hi hi hi.
Yeah first of all I think the sedan's are ugly as sin, which is why Id get the zx3 (no offense, I just have a thing about the 4 doors). Anyways, the other reason is that the zx3 has better fuel efficiency.

Haha, yeah, my friend has a manual 2000 Ford Focus. I believe it is the most recalled car in the history of cars. In any case, he has put 120,000 on it and it's still chuggin' and getting about 35-38mpg no less. He recently had to do a whole hooplah's worth of maintenance though that would have cost anyone else about $10,000, but his mom works as a service manager at a Mazda dealership and got it all done for about a tenth of that.

I'd be leery of an American car with lots of miles on it, to be honest. Saturn is the only company I would trust - I have one with 75k on it, and all I've ever had done is new brake pads and new tires. Bought it when it was around 45k miles.
I used to have a Mazda Protege, and it was just fine until the engine completely failed at around 110k miles. Totaled the car (salvage price was lower than cost of fixing it).

its a 2001? 66k is good for that year. and check the insurance costs of it. If it is a 'special edition' they sometimes jack the prices up. Like for the svt models they increase your rates.
I have a '03 zx3 with I think 53k miles...a ton. Its a manual and drives great, really haven't had problem yet. But i know once 75 - 100k come around im gona be working on it like crazy.

blech, I hate the look of the zx3's and the like, but I'm cool with the sedan look
Not sure about the fuel efficiency either, it seems that the Focus can go either way. Some have great fuel efficiency, others like mine... eh... not s'much.
