I bought my last ipod at Futureshop. Also bought an extended warranty plan with it (ie 1 year original warranty + 4 years additional).

What do you know, 3 years into using it, it breaks. I walk into future shop and get a brand-spanking new 8 gig black nano (~300 w/ tax) for free. (nearly free, b/c again, I purchased the extended warranty)

My advice with these things is to go to FS, get the extra warranty, and use the crap out of the thing. Within 3-4 years, it will surely bust (if not, I'm sure you can figure something out ). So after 3 years walk in, get a free new Ipod and buy another warranty plan (70$ these days). Rinse. Repeat. I'm sure you see the financial benefit...

It may be slimmer, but if you fork up the extra 100$ or whatever, you get an extra 50 gigs. That's not that bad a deal at all, and the battery life is the same.

And iPods never break, right?

Doesn't the Zen come with a 1-year warranty, anyway?

The Zen Micro, unfortunately, does seem to have a high defect rate, which isn't surprising since Creative has lousy QC. I don't think they're any worse than iPods though - anecdotally the ratio seems to be about the same but I can't find hard data on the Z:M. Personally, if I were buying one of those things I'd go with the Zune, or maybe an iRiver Clix with a couple of flash cards. No moving parts in a flash card or player, ergo, very unlikely to fail.

Graham, buy one from costco, the return policy kicks ass if anything ever happens to it, if you ask someone, they'll say the policy is a year, but really its an indefinate time, plus if you ever want your money back, just bring the unit back with your original receipt

Battery life is better in the 80gb versus the 30GB or the model below.

It might be thicker and heavier, but for $100 more, you get 50GB more and i think 4-6 hours better battery life.

I love my 80GB..i put tons of movies and TV shows on there too.

I have about 20 movies that I've uploaded recently to watch when I'm on the train in Europe..the screen may be small, but it occupies at a lot of your time!

So thats soapy water. And our washer is broke, and doesnt always drain propperly. It sat in the washer for 3 days FULL OF WATER.

Found at the bottom when I wen to dry my clothes several days later, put her in, and PRESTO, works no problem.

I love it when water wont even fuck up shit

I would look on Redflagdeals.com

I have bought a few ipods on there.. Just browse through the forums, you will run into something.

Negotiate a price, and then meet up somewhere in TO and do the business.
