A famous Mayor of New York, Laguardia was actually one of the hero's of the marijuana movement.
He at the time where there was this crusade to 'scare' people away from doing weed, stood up and in his own city had scientists test weed for the claims made back then.
This was in the 30's I believe, and he was openly challenging the anti-drug movement saying all his scientific research showed that weed was not addictive, would not turn you insane, and didn't lead to hard drug use. This was HUGE back then, people during these times actually thought using weed turned you psycho, anyone hear of 'Reefer Madness' ?

Ramifications? You mean not wasting tens of billions of enforcement and trial money prosecuting people who smoke/grow weed? People who thought prohabition of alcohol in the US would work had this same thought, how could we unleash this evil drug alcohol upon our people!
Look weed is no worse than alcohol, in fact I think in some important ways its better. Its not addictive, and it doesn't make you want to beat up people if you smoke too much, plus it supports the snack industry so obviously legalization will make them happy
I just can't believe you could be happy with it now, the government is telling you that you are a criminal for putting weed into your body. Your not harming anyone else, in fact studies show your barely hurting yourself over the long run. Yet you are OK with it being illegal? I mean I know of so many cases in the US when people had some weed in their car and got pulled over for some minor traffic violation. Cops always find excuses in the US to search your car, and just recently someone on the shroomery had this happen to them.
Thats just bad luck, not stupidity, I've had drugs in my car before. How could you be 100% sure that you won't get caught, thats the reason if you do smoke weed that you should be all for legalization, or at absolute minimum de-criminalize it.
I imagine if you got unlucky and got arrested with weed you wouldn't be very happy with the laws
