Thumbs up Mauro Rulez!!

I have to say mauro picotto is one of my favorite artists at the moment. That mixmag CD of his was just truly awesome... I first heard of him about 1 & 1/2 years ago when i heard Lizzard for the first time and that got me hooked to mauro...

May fave picotto tune at the moment is either 'baguette' or 'verdi' i think these two tunes show how his style of music ranges so wide from trance type stuff right up to techno & hard house

Peace

Drunk yep

For me it was also Lizard, cuz my fella is dj and he used to spin that tune all the time about a year ago (or maybe longer). Mauro Picotto kicks ASS!
But I prefer him more as a producer than as a dj, cuz he always spins his "own" (BXR etc.) records, which is the easiest thing to do! He also didn't have such a tight set as, for example, Johan Gielen, at Trance Energy (believe me: I was there). But he is a great performer and he even waved at me during his set at Trance Energy!!! (no, not kidding; I'm serious)
Anywayz, his records are COOL!

I first found out about a while ago when someone mentioned his name on this forum. I've never been interested in him until I heard Komodo for the first time. Now I found the song:

Mauro Picotto - Parade drums (limited vinyl)

Try downloading that one if you're a Picotto fan and tell me what you think of it

I was hooked on the Sosa tracks way back in 1997, but I didn't know it was Picotto. I first started actively hunting his tracks in 1998 when I heard Lizard and Ricky Effe's Technotemple. Mauro Picotto is definately the number one producer in my mind. No competition. We find Timo Maas and Mario Piu at distant 2nds.

Btw. someone said that Picotto was behind some act called Clubhouse in the early 90's but only recently started spinning. That's not entirely true. He won a DJ competition in mid 80's and has spinning ever since (don't know about the time before), and the act was Cappella (U & Me, U Got 2 Know, U Got 2 Let The Music etc.)

I agree that he's changed his style somewhat over the last year, and so he has during the years before that. He was the driving force behind the Mediterrenean Progressive sound, which was developed in cooperation with Gianfranco Bortolotti from about 1996 to 1999. If you listen to something like the early R.A.F. tracks "Ocean Whispers", "Bakerloo Symphony" or the first D'Agostino EP you'll reckognise that things didn't happen overnight.

Well, I'll stop here, I could be writing on this subject for days..

The best picotto track for me is 'Pulsar (Picotto Tea Mix)'
