New york also has an infrastructure that's not total shit. That city is able to use the tax to actually improve the city, whereas Toronto will be imposing these taxes solely to pay debts/deficits and "just get by".
Amazing how only after David Miller gets into office do they suddenly realize that their revenue is not sufficient. As another poster pointed out, I've got a better idea - how about cutting expenses? Start with the unbearable assload of money spent on "affordable" housing, which not only costs taxpayers money but hurts the housing industry in general. Or better yet, just sell off some city-run services to people who actually know what the hell they're doing.
EvilTree, good luck finding any useful information on Toronto's budget breakdown. All we really know is that more than half of it goes to the TTC which consumes more resources and offers poorer service than just about any other big-city transit organization in the world.
