He has done great things for this country like the minimum wage, establishing peace in Northern Ireland and taken us forward into the heart of the EU.

However, he will not be judged on any of the good things he's done for this country, instead, his legacy will be judged on his decision to take part in America's war in Iraq...

Economy is Browns work (and even then alot of people say it's inspite of him rather than because of him, watch the intrest rate...).

Minimum wage is good.

Northen Ireland... other peoples work alot again.... where was Peter Hain in the big party?

He's pulled us away from the EU by taking us into Iraq. Which of course will be his legacy.... the case for which has been proved to have been built on pillers of lies.

I'll admit he has been a strong leader but the case for the Iraq war was utter BS and was interntionally so.

yes, as we've learned. it's apparently also american citizens. but i digress. from my understanding, the first front of this war on terror was to take out those responsible for 9/11. (psst. it was Al Qaeda and that guy with a dialysis machine). at no time were unfalsified connections made between saddam and the guys our president claims to be concerned with.

Further digression... sorry

I will say that i liked blair more when he was imitating clinton. his final years as dubya's lapdog didn't really do the man any good.

More than 1 million Tutsis and Hutus were slain in internecine fighting in about three months. I mean imo at the time only Russia and the US could have done something, militarily.

I mean fuck, if i were clinton and knew i could have done something about it and didnt and then look at the aftermath. i wouldnt be able to sleep

The US and the French both sent forces after the massacres have been done to Rwanda to help foreign nationals leave and in France's case, provide a buffer zone for the Rwanda rebels preventing wipeout of the Rwanda govt forces.

All within pretty much moments notice, when the UN Force Commander was pleading for troops to prevent the massacres.

As much as I would love to continue engaging my dear friend LatinLover (if that's what one would call it), I'll just throw my quick thought in for our dear Blair.

if you believe that then most of the other things you believe are suspect. honestly. you are pretty much alone in that belief.

Blair was his own man driven by his own values.

I do beleive he was used as a pawn. He seems like a nice man.

Nah...

I don't give politicians right-of-way just because they were "misguided" or made a misjudgement.

It's their job to foresee the potential errors of misjudgement and make sure they don't happen. I'm not saying that we need a prophet up there, but if mistakes are made on this scale, then someone else probably needs to replace the failing party.

I hold him fully responsible for his part in the war, and his stepping down was the right thing to do on account of this.

The government has insane, nearly limitless in relativity, resources to devote to getting things RIGHT. There's just no room for mistakes in the post-nuclear information age.

Turkey? You mean the PKK? Saddam supported the Kurds?

As for anti-Iran terrorist groups and Palestinian terrorist groups, that has nothing to do with it because despite your claim below, the "war on terror" has everything to do with al-Qaida. It is not a war against Palestinian terrorist groups, it is not a war against Irish terrorist groups, it is not a war against Tamil terrorist groups, it is not a war against Latin American terrorist groups, and so on and so on. It is a direct response to the attacks committed by Sunni extremists on 11/09/01 and the subsequent seperate groups that have spawned since that date following the same ideology.

See above. And tell me who else it is about?

I agree with everything you say (but when you talk about other people being responsible for whatever altho it is true it happened on his watch and in 100 years time the history students will probably not draw the distinction!)

Basically, a hell of a lot of good things let down horribly by the Iraq war...
