the WEB im referring to is usually linked with "scene" releases as PROMO_CDS/Vinyl/PROMO_CDM which are just ripped songs

Better be safe than sorry and just buy it off the main retailers where you know that there wont be any problems with the mp3/wav and if there is they can give you a refund

since no one can really give a clear answer, ill abide by these.

are webmasters for these artist sites collectively lazy ??

Yes they are. I'm writing reviews and always check both the label and artist sites for extra info. Most of the time the releases I have to review aren't mentioned on these sites. Right now for example I'm writing a review for Composure Records release 025, but their site shows a discography that has 019 as the last one However, artists tend to update their myspace more often than their original site.
