Hindus are kind of funny in this regard... as stated earlier, few hindus eat beef but there is no hard fast rule stating that they cannot. Some do, some don't, many don't eat any meat. The deal with the cow was really born from practicallity rather then religion... the cow was more valuable to early Indians as a source of dairy and beast of burdon rather then meat so slaughtering a cow for meat was a poor allocation of resources. I'm pretty certain there is nothing in the Vedas regarding cows. The practices of hinduism can vary wildly from one sect to another. Janists for instance won't eat any meat, kill any animal/insect/bacteria, and pay little attention to the cast system whereas most hindu sects have a strong belief in the cast system and care less about non-human animals.

Fish is already considered Halal in Islamic religion, Beef and Chicken has to be slaughtered in a certain way to become Halal. Pork is completely forbidden.

Just got back from 2 weeks in Pakistan and made myself a bacon roll. Too good.

Check out references to saints and whatnot in reference to the original question.

Hahaha when my parents lived in The Netherlands in the 70's they remember, these Moroccans taking some fucking cow up into some shoe box 16th floor flat (apartment) and slashing it's throat in a tiny kitchen doing the old Halal ritual. They thought someone was being murdered.

halal It's meant to be a good way of doing meat too, with some of the tastiest kinds because of how it's culled/stored but I've never had the chance to try any.

In my experience, spanish religion is catholicism mainly, and while many islands/areas have their specialties depending on the local fish/farming lands, It never goes too different.

and if they have special days/parties relating to spanish dishes/food..

well almost all the population is catholic but only the most religious don't eat meat during the eastern fridays. I'm spanish and I eat whatever I want and whenever I want, like almost all the people. nowadays catholicism in Spain is not as important as it was in the past!

about special days relating to food, we should look in each region. for example in mine it's typical to eat "canelones" (a pasta rollo with meat inside, and hot cheese around) on 25th december.

and generally in the restaurants they serve paella each thursday. just a note, paella is original from Valencia and there are many kinds of paella, with / without seafood, with /without meat, yellow paella, black paella, vegeterian paella. . .
