Yes. But everyone goes through this drugs or no drugs.
no i think in my case it's drug use. when i was a kid i was in gifted classes, i was speaking full adult-like sentences by the age of 2. i was just generally an extremely smart kid from the time i was born up until i was like 14. my teachers were always talking to my mom about how smart i was. then in high school, it became the same story from my teachers. that i was so smart, and not living up to my potential. i was too busy smoking pot and skipping class.
when i made that move to Japan for 10th & 11th grade, my grades improved and I was playing sports and stuff, so I was much better, and then I came back to the U.S. and started doing "e" every single weekend practically and continued my partying and drug use for several years after graduating too. it sucked because I had like a solid B average after Japan and then barely graduated with a low C average and didn’t apply to any colleges because I knew I wouldn’t get in.
then when I was like 23, all my friends were graduating from major universities and I was like, “Damn, I need to go to college”. lol
i just think it's strange how gifted and smart i was until i started using drugs. now i'm just average in the brains department with shitty short term memory lol

The only remedy is prevention of further damage. So that would mean quitting (lol, I know the thought is ridiculous) doing drugs and drinking alcohol.
Also, keep your brain healthy by 'exercising' it. The phrase "use it or lose it" DOES apply here. Do things like crosswords, or read, or anything you find intellectually stimulating. Having strong social and emotional connections also helps.
There's lot of research out there about vitamins and minerals and such that have been shown to help increase brain function and improve memory too.
yea i started reading. got a book i can't put down actually. they also say people who retire young die early. i mean not all of them obviously, but it's healthy to keep exercising your brain as you put it.

i know it's hard to believe but i actually was.
i wouldn't put myself in the genius category (obviously) but i was in all gifted classes, always qualified for AP classes in middle & high school. i was just really smart and one of those kids who could walk into a test and wing it and get a C from barely studying for 15 minutes. my reading comprehension skills and memory skills were ridiculous.

drugs are fun though!
yea they are, but having a good short term memory as an adult in college is crucial.
