It should only be done with someone you intend to spend the rest of your life with, that's for sure! Moving in is like getting married but without the 50k wedding.

I have done it before too - breaking up is naaaaaaaaasty when you have all your stuff to sort out but you can't let the fear of that get in the way of a potentially wonderful thing.

I have to say though, when it works, it is really really awesome and it makes you very glad you took the plunge. Having someone to laugh with and talk with at the end of every day is amazing.

I couldn't agree more with both of the above mentioned. My bf and I had a lot of fights when we first moved in together, it's a huge adjustment. We've been living together for about 9 months, and we've worked most of the kinks out, and it'e been by far the best 9 months of my life. One os the best decisions I made in my life to move in with Chris.

yeah that's true. you can't really know someone until you've lived with them. and moving in together before getting hitched is a much better choice than doing it after. the living together thing didn't work out for me but i'm glad i tried. one word of advice... don't make too many compromises. if you need to give up too many things just to keep the peace or make her happy then it's not worth it. you'll be unhappy and she's really not the one for you if you need to change that much.

Agreed! Compromise is a funny thing really, I felt in past relationships that I had to give up a whole side of me to keep the peace - in this relationship, I feel more 'me' than I have ever felt.

I hope he feels the same.
