All laptop dj's have to spend so much time staring at their screens that they don't have the time to interact with the crowd.

Please prove me wrong if you know anyone who does....

he did rock the crowd as i said "rocked the place". he doesnt over do it like fuckin tiesto acting a maggot behind the decks. i hate over the top djs that think their popstars.

What made the room empty when he played this time?

to be fair dave pearce was playing a pure uplifting set finished with a real high energy track then m.i.k.e came on and played electro house. mixing wasnt bad, he didnt do much interacting but in the circumstances he didnt have many people to interact with.

LOL, you would freakin hate me then, I go pretty apeshit, but more in the same way Eddie Halliwell does. Otherwise I can't really connect with the music. Comes form having played musical instruments for a long time I think.

Dave Pearce is one of those DJs who can have a horrendous slelection sometimes but is technically actually a better DJ than a lot of people give him credit for.
Although, I can understand why MIKE cleared the dancefloor playing electro house after that.

Cheers

As for PvD, I've seen more charisma in a sausage roll.

me neither i dont mind and actually suport using them with hardware and decks and if it depends on me i will kep all the young ones from doing so, i will not allow it

That doesn't mean you can't get into it while mixing off a laptop.

In this case, if you're using a Xone 3D to control Ableton, you're still using a traditional mixer (of sorts) to mix. Just about the only thing missing there would be watching the DJ crouch down and hide for a minute or two to select a new CD or record, and then beatmatch and fine tune the mix (which looks awfully boring when a proficient DJ does it, since they do it so quickly and effortlessly).

Any DJ making proper use of Ableton to its fullest potential will be entertaining to watch. Go see Hawtin spin some time--his hands move a mile a minute on the mixer alone.

You just contradicted your self because Carl Cox also uses Ableton!

This was last year when he came to LA.

the other one is there for synthesis...seems like he has one of Arturia's synths open there (not sure really)

the setup (I would imagine) works the way, that he uses one lappy with ableton to mix the set and the other solely for synthesizing the sound of his (improvised?) solos...

I'm just guessing here but it definitely is something liek this

although, I don't think he needs two laptops to do that, because I've done the same thing and had no problems with stability/latency or whatever...

might be the fact that the lappy I used for that was a dual-core beast lol

Actually, you don't. You can actually mix in Serato without CDJ's. It's tough to do though.

When Paul uses Serato, he uses CDs. Paul doesn't mix in Internal Mode which is what you're talking about. Trust me on this one. Paul used my CD's last November at Vanguard in Hollywood.
