i think it was the 420 session or something like that |
Hey thanks dude, glad you like em. I've got close to 20, 420 sessions, so I dunno even know what you listened too
btw, there already is a special thread mate, it's stickied to the top of the TOTA forums. That's the inspiration for this thread, LOL

I do not provide tracklists for the simple reason that if one knows the tracks in the set, they kinda know whats coming next and it ruins the element of surprise i guess... in addition, i guess i would also like to know which tracks people are digging by then actually asking to ID a track in a set for them rather than them already knowing the name from a list
|
Dude, I know exactly where you are coming from! I don't normally look at tracklists before I listen to a set either. I look at it like a movie.. I don't wanna know what's going to happen next, and I wanna see where the Dirtector (or DJ) takes me... plus, if I know all the tracks ahead of time, I know what to expect and I REALLY REALLY pay attention to their mixing. Good dj's should mix flawlessly without anyone knowing what track is about to come in before they hear it... as you pointed out, the element of surprise can be a very powerful tool in a mix.
BUT....
When you're trying to promote yourself, you need to give people a depiction of what you are spinning! People will NEVER download a random set if they don't know the DJ or even what style of music he plays. When people ask you DIRECTLY to send them your mix, then send them a tracklist after they've listened to it, becasue obviously they already like your style and want to hear more. Sometimes people really dig certain tracks in your mix, and already know the name, so they will never ask you about it... when in fact, if people see you are playing lots of their favorite tunes, the chances of them downloading and listening to your mix is FAR greater!!! You're seeking attention the wrong way by hoping people will always ask you about certain tracks... cause it shouldn't be all about the tracks, but the entire mix!

well all i gotta say to that is...i put the genres on there. if thats a genre u may like, just download it. but i really dont want to argue cos TAs in general find any reason not to check anything out by me except for a few so i really dont care.
another reason i dont want to share my tracklist openly is cos i dont want to share track names since majority of the tracks i find no one has ever heard of (let alone even know the artist names at times)
Ah..yes..now im selfish...
