OK well what I meant was using a PC notebook and hooking it up to CDJs so I don't have to switch a bunch of CDs. Not using the notebook solely for mixing.
What is that FS like thing but it's for CDJs called?
There's a lot of really creative and inventive ways DJs have been using products like Ableton Live in their sets, so don't be so quick to shit all over DJs that don't adhere to 'the old school'.

Sure things will change, but it just seems a little too easy to dj using FS or cdj's, you don't really need that much skill to use them with their beat counters and stuff. It just seems like an easy way to dj, try getting the feel of vinyl its much more challenging and fun. My opinion on this subject.
Peace

You can use FS with CDJ's. It comes with two encoded CD's.

You clearly are not a DJ and have never used any of these means
Look, being a DJ boils down to more than just mixing tunes. Any wanker can learn to beatmatch and call themselves DJs (and most of them do - which is why we have such a diluted market to begin with). The true art of being a DJ is through sound manipulation through whatever means necessary to achieve your target sound. Being in the electronic music industry, you all should know that it's about pushing the envelope, inventing new sounds, and being innovative with technology. These are all required to survive in a competitive market.
It's NEVER been about WHAT a DJ uses.. but rather HOW they use the available tools...

Heh kinda funny. People use to whine and scream when CDJ's first came on the market. It's history repeating itself with laptops/ableton live!
wahh wahh wahhh!

LOL @ some of these statements. How about forget about your own bias for a moment and actually provide some assistance to the original poster?

Agreed.
Objective: perform for an audience, get them on their feet and keep them on the dance floor, expose them to some quality tunes and effects
Method: it's totally up to you
My only note is... if you're going to use the Mac/PC then you've got no reason not to interact with the crowd and pump them up

You're right ive never used a Cdj or Ableton for mixing puposes, but my problem is as you sadi "Any wanker can learn to beatmatch and call themselves DJs (and most of them do - which is why we have such a diluted market to begin with)" and thats what i'd like to avoid but it will keep happening so i guess its inevitable. We just gotta weed out the talented from the not so talented.
