i dont use zone alarm mate but u could try the following:

# Double-click on the Zone Alarm icon in your taskbar to open the main console.

# Click on the Firewall category in the left hand navigation sidebar.

# Next click on the Expert tab.

# Click on the Add button.

# At the Add Rule screen enter the following information

1. In the Name field enter a name for this rule. (You must enter a name in order to continue)

2. In the Comments field enter a descriptive comment about this rule.

# Under the Protocol box, click on the Modify button. Then select Add Protocol and then select Add Protocol again.

# Change the following settings:

1. Set the Protocol to the desired protocol.

2. Enter a description into the Description field. (You must enter a description to continue)

3. Change Destination Port to Other.

4. Enter the port, or range of ports, into the field to the right of the Other field.

# Press the OK button.

# Press the Apply button to activate the rule.

so i got everything working, and now i can connect to shoutcast with no problems, a big thank you goes out to everyone who helped.

now the only problem, i have is that the stream sounds like shit, i have it encoded at 128kbps. For now im using traktor dj studio 2, on the same laptop that has my shoutcast server.

Any suggestions?

glad to see u got it working - how does it sound shit? like poor quality? as far as i know. the poor sound quality could only be caused by ur soundcard... is it the onboard soundcard that came with the laptop?

ok i've installed broadcast and got a freedns server but how do i get it so that i can stream something online? my gear is connected through the line in jack but i can't figure out how to make it accessible to the public. i can't figure it out from what the instruction sites are saying, i'm sorry if its hard to understand what i'm asking but does anyone know how to solve my problem? thanks

i understand i have to do something with opening up a port through my firewall or something? but i'm kind of lost. any help would be greatly appreciated!
