I quite frankly have no idea how much it takes to build a Nuclear missle, what I do know is if the money is coming from the Government strictly (unless Russia is commercializing Nuclear weapons) then the economy is hardly being stimulated in such a way that a significant number of people will be thrown into the workforce and get the cycle going.
Also yes, someone with a Ph.D would indeed be better off working on something that requires their unique skills and knowledge, however it isn't the same as a Machinist or factory worker who in the development of strong economies accounted for a lot more profit/production etc. than the nuclear physicists.

And yes, it's the same for Machinish or factory worker, because they have a real work to do and they are paid a very attractive salary & benefits. More over they are entitled to subsided living property => there are more chances they will have children => they have funds to support and educate them.
C'mon, what are you talking about? Nuclear weapons industry was one the strongly developed in the USSR and YES it brought only GOOD to the USSR. GOOD? Because all other related industries were developing as well. That's why Russia has best space rockets at the moment.

USSR didn't collapse because of exessive funding of weaponry researches.

It takes more than one industry to stimulate an economy, especially one that deals in weapons. Crap on the USA all you want but they have HUGE corporations and above average performance in so many various markets and various sectors that their economy isn't in any way shape or form linear, and from what you're arguing it sounds like you think that Russians can just build nukes all day and eventually turn into a way richer nation than the US. (Based on other posts it's obvious what your views of Americans are).
