They are below that now actually. The Toshiba A2 HD-DVD was selling for under 300 and supposedly for black friday it might be <200. And Blu-Ray is down to 400 with the PS3.

I'm just being patient.

Cool. I have to wait till I find out which one will replace DVD...whenever that is. Blu-Ray seems to be winning. I would be more inclined to get a Blu-Ray drive for my computer though, that's what I think costs $999. Would be cool to have one that is Blu-Ray/Blu-Ray-R/DVD/DVD-R/CD/CD-R drive all in one.

Triple layer HD-DVDs have just been approved. 51 GB

The consumer doesnt care about if a disc can store 50GB or 50TB, its up to what the movie companies does with it and what companies stand behind what format. If techies keep jerking off to specs then we aint gonna get nowhere.
