I never, EVER play at .02. Ever. No matter what decks I'm playing on. I really find it an unnecessary feature, but again as with all equipment, personal preference is king.

That being said, I'd prefer 1000's or 800's to the 200's solely because I had a hell of a hard time getting used to the 200's. Didn't like the jog wheel, didn't like how I had to cue tracks. Just not a fan of those decks at all.

I actually owned the CDJ 1000 MK2s, and after two years, I sold them. I like the CDJ 200s better. Why you might ask? Because they are all you need for a home setup if you don't plan to play out at a club or bar. But even if you do, you won't find it that big of an adjustment, just the larger platter with a few extra features thrown in like the ability to save your cue points and loops. I never really needed that ability anyways. And scratching...unless your a hip hop DJ or James Zabiela, being able to scratch, although it might be cool for some EDM, is hardly neccessary for trance, progressive house or some other genres of EDM where the focus is on the music, not so much fancy tricks or scratching. If all you do is scratch, the CDJ 200s are a good investment.

Remember...it is a hobby, and unless you really plan to make it your career, it's not neccessary to have the best of the best, just something that allows you to mix, loop and cue, and the CDJ 200s are more than enough for all of that.

How does the jogwheel of the 200s differ from the 800s and 1000s, other than size. IS there a difference in sensitivity?

There's a slight difference when pitch bending. Pitch bending on a 200 isn't as accurate as on an 800 or 1000. That's about it. But you hardly need to pitch bend on a 200 if you have your tempo's matched with 0.02 pitch resolution.

.o2% if you enjoy super tight mixes, i always use it on my 1000's.. if its not matched within .02% i can hear it go out of time even before it does. i would def get used 1000's, that's what i did and i couldn't be happier.

man f these haters... if you can get 1000's, get them! they arent the industry standard for nothing! it just doesnt get any better... you guys are stearing this guy towards 200's over 1000's? gimme a break! i'd pick used 1000's over new 200's anyday...

If you can afford the 1000's get them. You won't regret it. I'm going to sell my 800's so I can upgrade to the 1000's.

still gotta factor in the economics though, I'm not that loaded unfortunately. the 1000s second hand are still a lot more expensive than 200s, i misread the auction on ebay.

How can you say that you prefer the 200's when all the reasons you've given are on the 1000's plus the 1000's have more features.

What you mean is that you find that the 200's suits your budget/needs - but you can't say that the 200's are better....

I don't know, but personally I wouldn't buy used CDJ's, period. They aren't like 1200's which never break.

The buttons wear out, the drives can wear out, the platters wear out. Unless they are really mint and you can see them in person I'd be wary.

Which is a good point - I would never buy any electrical item second hand.

If your budget is tight, why don't you apply for a 12 month interest free credit card and buy it with that and then split your payments over a year.

That's what I did when I bought my Xone:92 the other month and when I bought my 1000's last year.

There's always a way to get hold of expensive gear - you just need to be creative
