= someone who "gets it". The only party I disagree with is that EDM is "damn easy" to make. There is some truth to that wherein with new technology it is quite easy to create electronic music. It is NOT easy to create QUALITY electronic dance music that has substance and longetivity.

Definitely not easy to create great pieces of electronic music that holds the tests of time, or contains some creative sampling or vocal work of some sort.

But as far as trance goes:

1. Go grab FL
2. Get the Vengeance Essential Club sounds samples
3. Get some synth (preferably VST`s that has a vengeance soundset available)
4. Practise for a year or so, by listening to Sean Tyas and A State Of Trance.
5. Send your demo`s to digital labels around the world, if that dont work, make ur own label

note: all of the above does however require a great deal of patience, but no creativity is needed. Also, make sure you use as much headroom as possible..

Personally, I could care less if EDM gets recognition from the "pop" crowd. I enjoy it and don't care what people think of the music I constantly listen to. Deep down it takes a commitment from the listener to enjoy and understand the music (by that I mean understanding what the mood the producer is trying to convey through their track) so that you don't just hear a whole bunch of noises and a kick drum. You won't find many people who are very passionate and willing to research their music like most of us do.

I agree.. i like when good trance gets commercially recognised. Which happens rarely..

The problem though, as I see it.. is that radio`s and such labels cheesy dance stuff as trance, hence giving the main public the perception that trance is some kind of mindless "dunk-dunk" music. While the real proper good trance, will never ever even given a chance, its all pre-assumtions..

The really good trance, or EDM will always stay with a minority of people.. simply cause people have made up their minds already..

You can't hate just because it's getting popular, if that's your only reason than I wouldn't be surprised if you have a new favorite genre every 2nd hour. I can understand if you hate the transformation from what something was into a more 'marketable' sound and question why it changed.... but seeing how this site is, if they were still using the old technology to produce, we would have a thread here saying "why don't producers get some new, high tech equipment?".

There is some really good melodic progressive house and breaks out there, and some trance, but there's also a lot of crap. You just have to look elsewhere, other than stuff being released as of late on Armada, Anjunabeats and Euphonic. Toes In The Sand, Tilth, Pure Substance, Existence, Morrison...those are all good labels. And as far as trance, there are still some decent stuff out there. The best recent trance track IMO is "Hope" by Lemon & Einar K. I wish there were more like that. Something can still be melodic and uplifting, without sounding cheap.

Hope is a sweet track, however for me it's all about Autumn Radicals.
