The highly anticipated IPhone will soon be in the hands of eager consumers by the end of this month, officially June 29th 2007. It’s ironic that in my last class to finish my Bachelor’s of Commerce degree, Strategy and Competition, the professor was talking about Apple and asking how they might diversify themselves. He asked me what I thought and with all eyes on me, I said they would probably enter the cell phone market, some people laughed at me and I justified my stance, this was in July. Come January my prediction became reality, too bad I wasn’t smart enough to invest in Apple stock; I’m secretly hoping the IPhone will be a dud upon release, stock prices will drop and I can buy in. Apple’s stock has jumped over 30% since the announcement of the IPhone in January. Why?

Speculation my friend. Although apples stock has grown 18 fold since april 2003 meaning investing 10k would have turned into 180k, the stock is extremly overvalued. Rumors are right now that there may be a problem with the touch screen and there could be upto 20% returns on the phone. This would send apples stock plummeting. to 100 or less.
I also just read Steve Jobs in shying away from the iphone in an upcoming media confrence and instead focusing on the new mac. hmmm?
