If you are using CS2 for web-images (thumbnail and click to large images as well) they have scripts set up to fully automate everything from in the program or from a file:

Something flashbased like this. It takes the fullsized image and 'makes it ready for web' and creates thumbnails and all. |
well ive got that part done.
i took huge ass images, made them 800x600 and medium quality.
then i resized each to thumbnail size and applied a black border.
that really took no time at all with the automation shit.
as of right now, i have the pictures and their thumbnails.
i didnt want to post it in this thread but ill give it a whirl.
im using macromedia dreamweaver 8.
without macromedia fireworks, you cant really automate a "photoalbum" page that takes a folder of images, makes thumbnails, and applies links.
then you just edit the page and its looks.
so i am reduced to inserting each thumbnail, and linking each one.
not a hugely bad deal, i have shortcuts.
old school frontpage2002 let you insert more than one image at a time, then just thumbnail it and it linked it and all.
not dreamweaver.
anyone know a cheat for this in dreamweaver ??
back to image sizes.
all my images are 800x600.
during automation, i saved them as medium jpg.
file sizes range from 70kb - 120kb.
anyone has tips on reducing file size outside of jpg quality.
i have plaued with the "save image for web" in cs2 but not with any effective luck.
