it's the damndest thing, highschoolers.
back when i was in HS, i could play any type of track, trying to get them to dance, and at best, i had people standing around the decks, telling me i was doing a good job, and staring.
i kept getting requests from people who liked EDM to play at their bdays and such, even if the crowd didn't like it. i normally declined, but sometimes, they'd insist so much, saying to do it for them, just cuz it was their bday, that i couldn't refuse. normally ended up in fucking sucky nights.
on the other hand, this one time, i took my decks with me to school. had music class that day, and the teacher asked the students involved with music to do a jam session, somehow. i played some more bare-bones tracks, that were mostly beats/percussion, and had a friend play piano over it, another did bass, another violin, etc. some of it sounded ok, other not so much, but it was fun.
anyway, i basically didn't go to class for that day. right after music, which was first hour, i went to an empty classroom, plugged my shit in, and i had taken some speakers from the school PA. i could make a nice amount of noise, as the nearest busy classroom on the floor was far off. at one point, after recess, a bunch of students rushed in, following the sound as they were walking by, most were classmates of mine. they just wandered in, and began to dance. i was playing tracks specifically for my hearing pleasure, and continued to do so for the following 20 minutes, until teachers got pissed and raided the party and sent everyone to class.
so, anyways, expect it to suck.
