My advice would really be to do both rather than opt out of one to do the other.

You have some nice synths there too. You have a great base to enter the world of dance music on both fronts although, jamming with a band is quite different from producing dance tracks. Although the skill will always be useful.

One reason why I never really enjoyed bands is because very often I didn't like to have my ideas messed with. The ability to compromise is good in everything but when it comes to creativity I don't know the compromise is the way forward.
Maybe it's that fact that will get you writing music. It's yours from start to finish.
