i do mobile shows often, it's easy and quick cash
back on topic, i travel to shows with speakers, boxes, lights and music all packed into a 2 door chevy cavalier
the jbl gives you the best bang for your buck if you plan on using them live, with a crowd the sound is dampened a bit also, if you want some extra punch you can also add an eon sub or two to your setup
if you're setting them up in your basement, go for the mackies WITH sub (they lack the punch the eons have), they are clean and more defined than the eons, but you won't need to run them as loud, so overheating shouldn't be an issue, keep in mind i'm saying this is for a basement, live situation you have to run them louder and obviously for longer periods and overheating is an issue, i've used them live and don't like to
my friend just ran his brand new mackie sr1521z speakers and swa1801z sub pretty much all weekend long (big house party), they didn't power down at all and they sounded great in the smaller space
i still enjoy a pair of eon g2s though, i like how they sound
here's couple links to help you with some info

I can vouch for the Mackie SRM450s, they are what I use, they have an awesome sound IMO, but when the volumes get higher, you do need to add a sub into the mix as the 450s can't keep up with the low end, but they will never distort unless your mixer does, I've only had one of the speakers overheat on me once, and that was due to crappy location of the speaker (right next to a heat source), other than that, they are solid, but you really can't go wrong with either, they both have there ups and downs.
