Jazz is one of, if not (in my opinion), the most inspirational form of music ever. I've played Jazz Bass and a bit of Alto Sax for about eight years now and I've had more fun doing that than I have doing anything else. It has actual soul. The expressiveness that comes from improvisation is incredible, and there's nothing better than just jamming with your friends for hours upon hours, non-stop, playing and improvising the whole time and making fucking awesome music in the process. It's an aspect that I think is very lacking from EDM, something that I would like to try and tackle in the form of a live PA of some sort in the future. Underworld and few acts come close, but not close enough.

Another artist worth name-dropping would be Buddy Rich. Best. Drummer. Ever.

+1 to MMW...amazing group.

I'd also check out Pat Metheny, another amazing jazz guitarist.
